Claire Seaman is an academic based in Edinburgh whose research focuses is on family businesses and the role they play in sustainable economic and social development.
Her knowledge exchange work is primarily centred on the supporting activities that promote growth and innovation in family businesses and on building specialist networking groups, with colleagues from with the Scottish Family Business Association. This mix of academic research, knowledge exchange and an input to policy development through the Scottish and British Governments focuses on one key aspect of sustainable business development: the family, whether involved in a single business or as a platform for sustainable business develop- ment.
In addition, Claire supervises a variety of masters and doctoral students in the area of family business.
She has written extensively on the significance and influence of family
businesses
She has written extensively on the significance and influence of family businesses for journals worldwide including the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behaviour and Research, the World Review of Entrepreneurship, Management and Sustainable Development and the International Journal of Entrepreneurship & Small Business.
She has also contributed on the family business dimension to broader works including entrepreneurship for poverty alleviation and the cultural implications of knowledge sharing, management and transfer and is a contributor to a variety of current books.
